Vietnam Veterans Celebration of Heroes Festival
Fox Park, Ocean Avenue between Burk and Montgomery Avenues, Wildwood. 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. The Memorial Wall project was a collaborative effort of the American Legion Post 184 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Post 955. The Celebration of Heroes Festival is a FREE family festival to honor the lives of the many soldiers lost. A memorial flag ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m. at the Memorial Wall to kick off the day's festivities. The Celebration of Heroes Festival will begin at 10 a.m. in Fox Park, featuring craft and merchandise vendors, food vendors, memorabilia, and military displays all day long. Live entertainment will take place from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Fox Park Amphitheatre featuring The FM Band, Bandstand, Sheri Lynn, Purple Reign, Kenny Jeremiah (formerly of the Soul Survivors) and Sonny Turner of the Platters. This is one of the only Beach Lacrosse Tournaments in the world. This tournament gives lacrosse players of all ages a chance to enjoy the game in a new and exciting way. Wildwood Crest 5K Beach Race
The Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will host the 5K Beach Run at 7 p.m. The run will begin and end at the edge of the Wildwood Crest Beach Pier on the beach at Heather Road. The run will be held on an out-and-back all-beach course. The event also includes a one-mile fun run/walk. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers in categorized age groups. All pre-registered competitors will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt. Race-day registrants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt as supplies last. Refreshments will be available and random prizes will be awarded during the awards ceremony following the completion of the races. Registration fees are $20 for the 5K run and $15 for the one-mile fun run. Race-day registration will be held at the Crest Pier Recreation Center at Heather Road and Ocean Avenue.
